（SMBC日本シリーズ、DeNA11－2ソフトバンク、第6戦、DeNA4勝2敗、3日、横浜）DeNAが2連敗のあと第3戦から4連勝を飾り、1998年以来、26年ぶり3度目の日本一にたどり着いた。
打線が大一番で爆発した。二回に筒香のソロ本塁打で先制。さらに桑原の2点打で幸先よく3点のリードを奪った。三回には押し出し四球で加点した。五回には打者11人で5本の長短打に押し出しの2四死球が絡み、7得点のビッグイニングを作った。投手陣は先発の大貫が柳田に2ランを被弾したが、救援陣4人は無失点に封じ込めた。
セ・リーグ3位でポストシーズンを迎えたDeNAは、クライマックスシリーズ・ファーストステージでリーグ2位の阪神に2連勝して突破。ファイナルステージではリーグ優勝の巨人を4勝3敗で下した。リーグ3位から日本シリーズまで制した〝下克上〟は、2010年のロッテ以来、史上2チーム目となった。
